Waves | Ocean Forces

Waves are the visible expression of energy moving through the world’s oceans. Their uniqueness lies not in their form alone, but in the precise combination of forces that create them. Every wave is the result of conditions that will never repeat in exactly the same way: wind speed, wind duration, fetch, atmospheric pressure, and the shape and depth of the seafloor or beaches. These variables interact continuously, so each crest becomes a kind of geological moment. An unrepeatable configuration of energy shaped by both global forces and local conditions.

What makes waves so special is their dual nature. They are transient, yet they participate in long-term geological processes. A single wave is temporary, but the energy of countless waves over time is responsible for reshaping coastlines, redistributing sediments, and influencing the evolution of entire landscapes. In this sense, waves operate on two timelines: the immediate, where patterns shift from second to second, and the geological, where their cumulative impact creates measurable and lasting change.

Waves do not simply shape coastlines: they record the history of the forces acting upon the Earth’s surface. To observe them is to witness the processes that have been forming and reforming our planet’s edges for millions of years. Seen from above, their dynamics become more analytical, almost diagrammatic — allowing geological and physical forces to be revealed in a way that is both precise and revealing.

All artworks reveal an exceptionally high level of detail, originating largely from countless minute water particles. These nuances are captured using high-resolution cameras and can be fully experienced when viewing the works as large-format prints in upcoming exhibitions.

Waves | Ocean Forces

Aerial photography project showing the dynamic energy and intricate patterns of ocean waves. Captured from above, each image reveals the subtle interactions between wind, water, and light, exposing both the raw power and delicate structure of the sea. High-resolution cameras record every detail — from shifting currents to countless tiny water particles — allowing viewers to experience the complex geometry and kinetic energy of waves, particularly in large-format prints where their scale and force become tangible.
