My favorite NEW Crawling Exercise
Do you want to step up your planks?  Try this!  Bear Hold:  • 1. Place your hands underneath your shoulders and knees underneath your hips.  • 2. Brace the core, lift the knees off the ground and keep a nice flat back.  • 3. Hold for as long as possible.  Bear Crawls:  • 1. Get into your bear hold position.  • 2. Moving the opposite hand and foot, walk laterally, or forward /backward keeping that flat back and braced core position.  • 3. Crawl for as long as possible.  These bear positions engage the core like a plank, but require additional work/stabilization through the shoulders, quads, and hips.  Try 3 sets of these at the end of your next workout! Was inspired by @thebodymechanic.dpt ‘s post yesterday. 

Incorporating animal movements as a method of training has long been used in martial arts, as a way of moving to improve striking to increase mobility & condition muscles.

Mimicking the movements of the gorilla requires us to hold our body weight, which in turn builds strength in our entire upper body.

The dynamic nature also helps achieve higher levels of mobility & athletic performance.

The crawling patterns also help with upper body strength & stability.
