Why Use an Olla?
Ollas are a fantastic way to conserve water and keep your garden consistently hydrated. The slow-release irrigation, thanks to the porous properties of clay, encourages deep root growth, reduces water waste, and minimizes the risk of overwatering.

Equipment Needed
	•	2 unglazed terracotta pots of the same size
	•	1 small terracotta pot with matching base plate
	•	1 ornamental ceramic object to repurpose as a handle (or a seashell or piece of wood…get creative!)
	•	Transparent sealing glue
	•	Cork to plug the bottom hole of the lower terracotta pot

Method
	1.	Take one of the larger terracotta pots & plug its drainage hole with a cork.
	2.	Trim any excess cork & seal it in place using

Carefully, cut along the lines with a circular saw, but stop right at the 6” line. Cut the last two off completely: use a strip to make 1-, 2-, and 3-foot crosspieces. Fan out the remaining strips with a clamp. Glue and staple the 3-footer across the top, the 1-footer at the bottom, and the 2-footer in the center. Watch out for knots—one piece snapped on me, but glue helped. I think it turned great for my mom’s patio! Hope these tips helped. Talk soon! | Build to Made - DIY from a Dad | Facebook
