The merits of the sculpture itself inspired me to take this photo, though there was something oddly familiar about the entire doorway.... Palais Pallavicini was built 1782-1784 for Johann von Fries but was criticised for having too austere a façade – Vienna's first in the Neo-Classical style – so this more dramatic portal, by Franz Zauner, was added.
