Hi everyone! If you’ve seen any of my other videos, you know that I like to share postpartum workouts, especially ab workouts. 

The MAIN reason I share these workouts is because I know when I was postpartum (the first time) and wanting to train again like I was used to, it was a learning curve training my core muscles again. That’s what led me to expanding my personal training certification so I could know how to safely train postpartum, as well as help clients and others!

Postpartum ab workouts aren’t just about losing weight, getting a flat tummy, or getting rid of your “mom pouch”. Ab separation postpartum (diastasis recti) leads to other problems including : pelvic floor dysfunction, back pain, & a weakened core which leads to injuries.

Postpartum ab workout using my flex ball from The X Bands😁

I love sharing postpartum core workouts because they’re about more than just training your core or getting abs (especially for the summer ☀️). 

I focus on exercises that are diastasis recti safe because ab separation postpartum can lead to back pain, pelvic floor pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, and a weakened core (which can lead to injury). 

Taking the time to rehab and train your core is beneficial for aesthetic reasons and getting rid of a “mom pouch”, but also beneficial for long term health.

 • These are three exercises I recommend starting out with when you are wanting to get moving postpartum. 360 breathing is going to help us optimally use that diaphragm, easing tension, aiding in correcting muscle imbalances, and overall gives us a much more effective breathing technique to apply once we start moving into higher impact activity.
 • The pelvic tilt is an important movement because they help train your rib cage and pelvis to be in proper alignment. This aids in strengthening the core, easing lower back pain, and position of the pelvis (thus, helping re-stabilize the postpartum body.)
 • When we add a pillow squeeze to the tilts, this helps us activate those pelvic floor muscles that become weakened during pregnant and birth (yes, even if you had a c-section, that pelvic
