With any abs movement, the goal is SPINAL FLEXION. Many people don’t feel their abs working because they are mainly using HIP FLEXION. 

As shown here, yes, I’m bringing the rope down, but it’s not working my abs properly. 

To fix this, think about “tucking” your torso. 

Bring your elbows down towards your knees and pause at the bottom. 

This will engage your core muscles more effectively than the first demonstrated movement.
