Loaded carries are a great core and whole body exercise. A suitcase or farmer carry would be a great addition to your strength workout…I use this all the time for my personal training clients and in my workouts. Carrying a heavy load is especially good as we age…it helps promote good stability and balance. And there isn’t much to it…just walk around carrying something heavy.

Do you need to improve your balance? Are you getting older and want to maintain your core strength and stability? If so, loaded carry exercises are a great addition to your workout routine. Heavy suitcase carry is an exercise I use with all of my clients…no matter her age! I’ve had 80+ ladies carry 20kg (44 lbs)! Tips:
 • Focus on walking in a straight line with a heel/toe movement. 
 • Go as heavy as you can! This exercise not only works on core strength, but also grip strength and total body stability. 
 • I like putting the other hand behind your head, which helps promote good posture and shoulder mobility. 

Suitcase carry is good for core strength, grip strength, balance & stability, and posture.
