There are very few exercises that I *never* program for my clients...

But the bench dip is one of them. 😬

Let's talk about why and how you should consider swapping out this exercise!

People primarily do the bench dip for 3 main reasons:

1. It's easy to set-up, no weights needed

2. To train the pecs and triceps

3. As a modification for the full body weight dip

These are all good reasons in theory, but bench dips aren't actually the best option for accomplishing any of the reasons above:

1. Push-ups are even easier, zero equipment of any kind needed

2. Push-ups train the pecs and triceps even better without the strain on the front delts (poor ROM for the pecs, not optimal for triceps either)
