Cinematographer Donald McAlpine was faced with quite the dilemma during Romeo and Juliet's infamous fish tank meet-cute. Both the tank's glass and the water's reflections were very difficult to light up without causing untoward reflections, so McAlpine had to think on the fly. He eventually inserted some fluorescent tubes into the tank and made sure they weren't in the camera's viewpoint. These fluorescent bulbs were also the only source of lighting in the scene!
