There is no place like home. Earth has the most biodiversity, or variety of life, out of all planets in our Solar System. Deeper in the natural diversity is genetic, species, and ecosystem diversity. This refers to the variety of genes in a population or species, species in an ecosystem, and the diversity of biological communities. Having a diverse planet ensures that if there is ever a decline in the functions of Earthly life, another species can fulfill its role without ecosystem changes.
