The Highline in New York City and the 606 in Chicago are two projects that begin to show the potential of pedestrian roads. By eliminating the vehicle, and in the case of the Highline, bicycles, a space that caters solely to the pedestrian is created. The main issue is that these spaces are more of a destination than a mode of transportation. How do we encourage people to engage in these spaces and truly activate their potential?
