Here is the Beehive - Song and Puppet Printables

This well known counting song and fingerplay, ‘Here is the Beehive’, is even more fun when you can act it out with these cute printable bee finger puppets!

These fun, free printable, bee puppets, with a matching beehive and song poster are perfect for singing, storytelling or imaginative play!

This fun set of bee puppets with their matching beehive is always a hit with the preschoolers I work with! They love popping a little bee on their finger and helping to act out the rhyme.

This puppet set is perfect for a group time activity where multiple children can use a bee puppet and buzz around the hive while working on their language and counting skills. Afterwards I like to set up the beehive and puppets along with some other bee themed items in a quiet space so the kids can use it for storytelling and imaginative play.

Bee Songs and Finger Plays

I’m sure you all know this traditional bee finger play – Here is a Beehive. Here’s a little animation we made to show you how it goes.

Another very simple bee song that I use often with preschool music groups, using a bee puppet is this one:

Bee Bee

Bee, bee, bumblebee.
Can you sing your name to me
Child sings : My name is Sarah
Group replies : Your name is Sarah.
Buzz, buzz, buzz!

This song is a great activity for a small group, or when learning names!

This next bee song is a fun action rhyme that works perfectly with a bee puppet!

Bumble Bee

Bumblebee is on your nose
(touch or put a bee on your nose)
Bubblebee is on your toes
(touch or put a bee on your toes)
On your nose!
On you toes!
(move between nose and toes quickly)
Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!
(move bee or fingers all around)

Free Printable Bee Puppets and Beehive.

There are five little bees in this puppet set, with straps to make them into finger puppets if you wish, or you could add craft sticks or a velcro dot and use them with a flannel board.

There is also a beehive for the bees to hide in. Cut out the beehive and the stand piece, fold in the flaps and glue or tape it to the back of the beehive.

And there is also a matching song words poster for the ‘Here is the Beehive’ song.

This printable is an A4 sized pdf file, you will need a pdf reader such as adobe acrobat to open it. It will fit to print on US ‘letter sized’ paper, just be sure to select ‘fit’ or ‘shrink to fit’ from your printer options to allow for printer margins.
