8 murders. 17 years of terror. Endless leads.
The Monster of Florence is the name associated with a series of murders
that took place between 1968 and 1985 in the countryside around Florence.
The victims were couples parked in their cars, killed in similar circumstances.

The case, which remains unsolved, is one of the most mysterious and controversial in Italian criminal history, and it generated an extraordinary number of articles and front pages,
making newspapers a true archive of collective memory.

Thousands of articles have been published about the case.
But to truly understand this story, it’s important to go back to the very beginning.
For this reason, and to help people reconnect with the origins of the case, we decided
to return to the news and articles that first unveiled the earliest lead in the terrifying years of the Mostro di Firenze: the Pista Sarda. In collaboration with RCS Group,
we opened its historical archive and, through in-depth analysis and careful selection
of the newspaper’s articles, we brought them back to life, giving people the opportunity
to read them and immerse themselves in a deep exploration of the case.

At Duomo metro station, over 100 meters of newspaper articles covered every corner,
from walls and columns to stairways, transforming the subway into an open archive.

On one of Italy’s most-read newspapers, we recreated two full pages from that era
using original articles from the time, immersing readers in an experience
that brought them back to the very years when the Monster was striking.

In Florence, the city most affected by this case, more than 25 meters of newspaper articles were displayed in the gallery, an exhibition space near the train station entirely made up
of animated LED walls, creating a suggestive and fully immersive experience.
