Planting Knowledge and Life at the University of Benghazi

The “Planting Knowledge and Life” initiative was launched on Saturday morning at the University of Benghazi, implemented and supported by the Libya Reconstruction and Development Fund (FDRL), under the direct supervision and follow-up of the Fund’s Director General, Engineer Belqasim Khalifa Haftar.

The initiative witnessed wide attendance and participation, led by the President of the University of Benghazi, Professor Eiz Eldeen Aldressi, in the presence of the following:

• University Vice Presidents

• Members of the University Council

• Faculty members and university staff

• Dr. Belaid Jumaa

Director of the Benghazi Education Office

• Dr. Rajab Al-Badri

General Manager of Al-Qalaa Company

• The Student Union and students of the University of Benghazi

• Representatives of the Scouts and Guides

• The Libyan Red Crescent

• Youth Houses

 

The initiative aims to revitalise the University of Benghazi campus through comprehensive planting and landscaping activities, contributing to improving the university environment, promoting a culture of care for green spaces, and raising environmental awareness among university members and the wider community.

Those overseeing the initiative affirmed that this effort represents a successful model of integration between national institutions, the academic sector, and civil society, noting that joint efforts and active participation constitute the main foundation for achieving the desired goals and ensuring the success of this environmental and developmental initiative.

The event concluded with an emphasis on the importance of sustaining such initiatives due to their positive impact on supporting the university environment, strengthening the sense of belonging, and reinforcing the values of volunteer work and social responsibility.
