Derek Stanford has served as State Senator for Washington’s 1st District since 2019; he previously held the office of State Representative from 2011 to 2019.

In his professional career, Dr. Stanford works at Boeing managing technology and data science projects. He previously worked as Director of Analytics for small companies focused on fraud detection and customer insights. He holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Washington, as well as an M.S. in Mathematics from Claremont Graduate University and a B.S. in Mathematics from Harvey Mudd College. He lives in Bothell with his wife and children.
