Crochet Cosy Beanie Hat

Crochet cosy beanie hat, this free crochet pattern is comfortable to wear, I have crocheted it using the raised brick stitch, which is really easy to do.

It’s made from the top down, so you can make it as short or as long as you want.

For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

55 grams of James C Brett Marble DK yarn

5.00mm crochet hook for main part and 4.00mm hook for the brim

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Made in rounds without turning to the end of the 8th Round.

With 5.00mm hook make a magic circle, Work 2ch, (RS) 12tr into the circle, pull loose thread to close circle, miss 2tch, ss to first tr on beginning of round. (12tr)

2nd Round – 2ch, 2tr into the stitch at the base of the 2ch, 2tr into each tr to end, miss 2tch, ss to first tr on beginning of round. (24tr)

3rd Round – 2ch, 2tr into stitch at the base of the 2ch, 1tr into next tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, miss 2tch, ss to first tr on beginning of round. (36tr)

4th Round – 2ch, 2tr into stitch at the base of the 2ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to end, miss 2tch, ss to first tr on beginning of round. (48tr)

5th Round – 2ch, 2tr into stitch at the base of the 2ch, 1tr into each of next 3tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 3tr, * rpt from * to * to end, miss 2tch, ss to first tr on beginning of round. (60tr)

6th Round – 2ch, 2tr into stitch at the base of the 2ch, 1tr into each of next 4tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 4tr, * rpt from * to * to end, miss 2tch, ss to first tr on beginning of round. (72tr)

7th Round – 1ch, 2dc into stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each of next 11tr, * 2dc into next tr, 1dc into each of next 11tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn. (78dc)

8th Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of 1ch, * make 2ch loosely, miss 2st, 1dc into next st, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

9th Row – 3ch, (RS) work * 2tr into next 2ch space, fptr around next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, working tr into last dc. Turn.

Rpt 8th & 9th Rows six more times or until work measures approx 8 inches from crown. Turn.

Brim – With 4.00mm hook make 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each st to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (78dc)

Second to Fifth Rounds – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.
