Steven Fulop
Steve Fulop was the Mayor of Jersey City in New Jersey. He assumed office on July 1, 2013. He left office on January 1, 2026.
Fulop (Democratic Party) ran for election for Governor of New Jersey. He lost in the Democratic primary on June 10, 2025.
Biography
Fulop earned a B.A. from Binghamton University, an M.P.A. from Columbia University, and an M.B.A. from New York University's Stern School of Business.[1]
Fulop's experience includes serving as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and working in equity trading for Sanford C. Bernstein, as the vice president of electronic trading for Citi Group, and as an associate for Goldman Sachs.[1] His military service included a deployment to Iraq in 2003.[2]

Mayor of Jersey City
Jersey City, New Jersey, held a general election for mayor, three at large city council seats, and six by district city council seats on November 7, 2017. Any race where no candidate earns a majority of the votes cast in the general election advanced to the runoff election on December 5, 2017. Incumbent Steven Fulop defeated Bill Matsikoudis in the general election for mayor.[3]
